Responsibilities
The ideal candidate for this welder role will take on the following responsibilities:
- Safety Leadership
Demonstrate courageous leadership in safety by consistently adhering to and promoting safety and environmental rules and procedures. Actively participate in safety initiatives, contributing to a secure work environment for yourself and your team.
- Equipment Maintenance
Conduct regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities on site structures and mining equipment, both in the shop and field environments. Ensure the proper functioning of equipment to contribute to the overall operational efficiency.
- Structural Fabrication
Utilize welding skills to fabricate and repair site structures, ensuring they meet industry standards for safety and durability. This includes working on haul truck bodies, shovel buckets, dozer blades, and various other mining equipment components.
- Crack Repair
Identify, grind, gouge, and effectively repair cracks in critical components of mining equipment. Implement timely and efficient solutions to maintain the structural integrity and reliability of the machinery.
- Inspections and Preventative Maintenance
Conduct thorough inspections on mining equipment and structures, identifying potential issues and performing preventative maintenance measures as needed. Proactively address concerns to minimize downtime and enhance equipment lifespan.
- Welding Processes
Proficiently use a variety of welding processes, including FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW, to ensure high-quality and durable welds. Stay updated on industry best practices and incorporate innovative welding solutions as required.
- Collaborative Teamwork
Work cohesively with other tradespeople and team members, fostering a collaborative and communicative work environment. Support colleagues and share knowledge to contribute to the overall success of the maintenance team.
- Innovative Problem-Solving
Provide innovative solutions to challenges encountered during maintenance and repair activities. Utilize problem-solving skills to address issues efficiently and contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes.

Qualifications

- B Pressure welding ticket would be considered an asset.
- Previous mining experience is an asset.
