Job Description

Home Instead is looking for caregivers to provide essential care and support to seniors in the Toronto West area. Candidates must be legally able to work in Canada and fully vaccinated. As a Caregiver at Home Instead, your primary responsibility will be to provide crucial support and assistance to seniors in the Toronto West area, enabling them to maintain their independence and quality of life within the comfort of their own homes. This role plays a vital part in our community, especially considering the vulnerability of our senior population.

Key Responsibilities

The caregivers’ responsibilities will include the following:

Companionship, Conversation & Personal Support: Engage with seniors on a personal level, providing companionship and emotional support. Engage in meaningful conversations, fostering a sense of connection and well-being.
Light Housekeeping Tasks & Meal Preparation: Assist with light household chores such as cleaning, tidying up, and meal preparation. Ensuring a clean and safe living environment is crucial for our clients’ well-being.
Errands, Accompaniment, and Home Organizational Support: Run errands for clients, accompany them to appointments, and provide assistance with organizing their living spaces, making daily life more manageable.
Medication & Appointment Reminders: Help clients manage their medications by providing timely reminders. Ensure that they attend medical appointments as scheduled, promoting their overall health and well-being.
Assistance with Grooming & Bathing: Assist with personal grooming, hygiene, and bathing as required, respecting each client’s dignity and privacy.
Assistance with Toileting & Incontinence: Provide sensitive and respectful support with toileting and incontinence care, maintaining a high standard of care and comfort.
Dementia & Alzheimer’s Care, Palliative Support: Offer specialized care for clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or those in need of palliative support. Compassionately assist them in managing their unique challenges.
PSW Preferred but Not Necessary: While a Personal Support Worker (PSW) certification is preferred, it is not a strict requirement. We value relevant caregiver experience and a caring attitude.
Availability: Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends. The positions start as part-time but can lead to full-time opportunities based on your availability and the needs of our clients.
Legal Eligibility: Ensure that you have legal eligibility to work in Canada as this is a requirement for the position.

Requirements

The requirements for this caregiver job position at Home Instead include:

PSW (Personal Support Worker) certification is preferred but not necessary
Personal or professional caregiver experience is required
Availability to work a schedule of 15-40 hours per week, including 2 weekends a month
Must have legal eligibility to work in Canada
