Job Overview

As an Organic Food Packer at Fresh City Farms Inc., you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and efficiency of packing and shipping operations. Your role will involve matching products with packing slips, weighing and packaging items, inspecting product quality, and managing stock to maintain freshness. You’ll work closely with a dedicated team to maintain high standards and uphold the company’s commitment to quality and sustainability. Your attention to detail and dedication to maintaining the highest standards will contribute to the company’s mission of providing fresh, organic, and sustainable food to customers.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities for the chosen candidates will include the following:
- Product Matching: Your primary responsibility will be to match products with their respective packing slips meticulously. Ensuring that all items are correctly identified and accounted for is essential to accurate shipping and receiving.
- Weighing and Packaging: You will accurately weigh items before packaging them using appropriate materials and techniques. This step is crucial in ensuring that our customers receive the correct quantities of our high-quality products.
- Quality Inspection: Maintaining the integrity of our products is paramount. You will inspect produce and other items for any defects or deviations from specifications, promptly addressing any issues to maintain product quality.
- Stock Management: Properly storing received stock is vital to maintaining freshness. You will be responsible for ensuring that items are correctly stored in designated areas, with a focus on rotating stock to prioritize older inventory for shipment.
- Product Storage: Efficiently loading products into packing line fridges and freezers is essential to maintaining optimal storage conditions and product quality.
- General Warehouse Duties: In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will be involved in general warehouse tasks. This includes maintaining cleanliness and organization in work areas, safely operating warehouse equipment, and assisting in inventory counts as needed.
- Collaboration: Effective teamwork is essential to our success. You will work closely with other departments and team members to ensure a seamless workflow and address any discrepancies or issues that may arise during the packing process.
- Safety Compliance: Safety is our top priority. You will adhere to all company safety guidelines and procedures, promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or potential hazards to maintain a secure work environment.
- Process Improvement: We value your input and encourage you to provide feedback and suggestions to improve packing processes, reduce waste, and increase overall efficiency.
- Record Keeping: Keeping accurate records of packed items, returned products, and any discrepancies or issues that arise during the packing process is an essential part of the role.

Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should bring the following qualifications and attributes:
- Previous experience in a warehouse or packing environment (preferred).
- The ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Basic math skills for accurate weighing and measuring.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and the use of packing equipment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Additional Information
- Weekend shifts are mandatory as part of this role.
- Scheduling may vary based on operational requirements.
- This position is part-time.
- Work Location: In person at our Toronto, ON facility.
